Join our team as the Software Development Manager to lead the development team to specification, development, testing, support and maintenance of the Department’s software and applications portfolio to the requisite quality standards – designing, producing and delivering software applications and services to satisfy stakeholder requirements.
Our successful candidate will have 5+ Years’ experience managing a high-performing team of developers and will have knowledge in the relevant technologies including .Net, SQL Server scripts, etc.
Role Requirements
The Software Development Manager role is responsible for:-
•Managing the software development team – guiding, coaching and mentoring software development engineers
•Managing the lifecycle for software development projects – including research, development, design, evaluation, testing and delivery to product management.
•Establishing and implementing software development standards and processes for the timely delivery of scalable, high-quality software.
•Promoting an Agile, Proof of Concept approach and demonstrating how software products and services add value to respective business areas.
•Ensuring design reviews effectively capture actions to meet business goals.
•Supervising resource allocation to meet business and personnel development goals.
•Evaluating projects in order to develop, maintain and regularly publish status reports.
•Maintaining a structured methodology to capture bugs and correct any related code.
•Being proactive in the reengineering of applications to improve the end-user experience and/or the optimisation of application infrastructure.
•Providing technical and functional documentation at all stages of the development life cycle.
•Working with the contract delivery teams to write specifications for new projects.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Experience
•Object orientated programming experience
•Ability to write code to interact with various API’s to integrate multiple systems
•Experience working with systems where security is a primary consideration
•Knowledge of SSL and Role-Based Authentication
•Commercial experience within a similar environment or large Public Sector organisation.
•Understanding of DevOps
•Azure hosted environments
•Data modelling and reporting experience
•Excellent communication and staff leadership and management skills
•Excellent planning, performance management and organisational skills
•High level of initiative and motivation with the ability to seek out solutions to problems
•Willingness to competently review performance to identify trends and initiate opportunities for improvement
